weight: 132 lbs.
eye color: Blue
hair color: Red
distinguishing features: Her curly, vivid mop of hair.
wardrobe: Whatever is weather-appropriate and situation-appropriate. Jeans, simple tops, sneakers. She wears her hair back in a braid while she's working, as it is entirely unmanageable otherwise. Her most valuable and valued article is her diamond engagement ring, which she still wears in memory of her late fiance.

in detail:
Andie is, first and foremost, a social creature. She likes laughing and flirting and feeling loved and really just having company, no matter whether she's happy or sad. Where she thrives off of love and affection, she withers in the face of solitude; her greatest fear is to be completely alone. Her fear came closer than she'd ever imagined to being realized, and it jarred her, the death of her fiance and the lack of contact with the rest of her family leaving her somewhat drained.

Despite this, Andie puts on a brave face, or tries to. She's certainly succumbed to self-pity now and then, since setting off from home. After a good cry, she'll bounce back from her funk until the next time, determined to make the most of her situation, though her natural optimism wavers more frequently than it used to. She tends to throw herself into solving other people's problems when this happens, whether it's patching up a scrape or offering a smile or a shoulder to lean on. After all, not every situation is hopeless, right?

Andie is far more of a lover than a fighter, and probably wouldn't have lasted a day on her own outside the hospital walls. While resourceful and level-headed enough, she's led a physically easy life, and is used to people doing things for her and offering her all the protection she could need. She could turn a back handspring, but couldn't fight if her life depended on it, and wouldn't have any idea how to cope with what the world has become on her own. Andie latched readily onto the group that became the founders of Haven, spotting her ticket to survival, though that's certainly not all they are to her.

That said, she is a gifted healer - perhaps destined to preserve life rather than endanger it. She makes fast and lasting friendships, laughs easily, and likes making other people happy as well. Her bitterest disappointments occur when others are disappointed in her. Andie is especially fond of children, from infants to teens, and still wants to be a mother someday. Until then, she's a bit of a mother figure to her friends, and cares for the citizens of Haven to the very best of her ability.

Peter and Laura Halliday were the kind of responsible, loving couple that should have children. And they did. Lots of them. After a Jonny, Danny, Sammy, and Tommy...came Andie. Though anticipated as an Andrew Joseph, Andie turned out to be an Andrea Jodie. The fifth and final Halliday child was the only girl, but she was all the more feminine for it, embracing her uniqueness amongst a pack of boys wearing each other's hand-me-downs. She was doted on and protected throughout her sunny suburban childhood, entering high school not a little naive and spoiled, but a good-hearted little mother.

She didn't care much for school, though she tried hard at it - she would rather die than disappoint. Andie had plenty of friends and acquaintances, made through her brothers' wide network or through her own outgoing nature, and she was a gymnast and a cheerleader. She did well in her classes, and had a good time while she was doing it. Upon her graduation, she enrolled in college, and donned a cap and gown once more four years later, when she received her Bachelor's of Science in Nursing from the University of Colorado.

Andie had not only a diploma and miles more life experience to show from her time at college, but a diamond ring as well. Sasha Reed was a promising medical student who adored Andie, and she loved him back, dating him for two years before he proposed to her. Andie and Sasha were the same sort of responsible, loving couple that the Hallidays were. Though they lived together in a small but nice apartment, they settled in for a long engagement while Sasha finished up medical school and Andie began work as an emergency room nurse. And then when Sasha became Dr. Reed, she couldn't have been prouder, and he joined her at the hospital as they began to plan their wedding.

Before they could send out invitations, people started dying - or worse, changing. Sasha and Andie soon had no time to do anything but their jobs, and when that proved futile, they stayed anyway, committed to soothing the dying. Andie went from bedside to bedside for weeks, a growing feeling of hopelessness overtaking her as she watched corpse after corpse carried out of the building, and always a new failing body to take its place. Meanwhile, she stayed healthy. Her fiance did not, and she sat by his side and cried the night he died, in the hospital that was, by now, more or less empty. There was nobody to go home to, after that. Andie considered leaving, to seek out family members who may or may not still be alive, but she was afraid to strike out on her own. She stayed in the hospital for a few days, where it was safe, though she knew it wouldn't be for long.

That's where they found her - the people who looked just as healthy and normal as she did. It seemed that the same quirk of God or fate or luck that retained her health had brought a party of survivors right to her, scavenging for supplies in her hospital to heal one of their party's wounded. Andie helped them, and then left with them, travelling where they went. Upon the establishment of Haven, Andie established herself in the observatory as a fixture at the medical center, where she continues to supervise and offer comfort to the sick and wounded.
