a p p e a r a n c e
height: 6'1"
weight: 155 lbs.
eye color: Blue
hair color: Blond
demeanor: Similar to his voice, Dom has the presence of a leader, someone who's used to taking charge and getting things done. He'll be quick to point out ways things can be improved and will give his opinions unapologetically, somehow without seeming like he's criticizing. Which he's not. He just wants things to be good and right in the world.
manner of speech: Firm but diplomatic. Dom definitely commands attention when he speaks, whether it's in endorsement of his company or a cause, or just telling a story at a party.

distinguishing features: None
wardrobe: Business casual, or suits. All very expensive, though he certainly doesn't do his own shopping.

Dominic is a rare breed, one who is truly open-minded. He is forever curious, forever looking toward the horizon. He wants to make things better for the future, the perfect compliment to his more practical-minded brother, who is best at implementing those ideas. Though he might come off as a serious businessman, Dom continues to view the world through a child's eyes. He wants to know how things work, and how they could work better.

Granted, he is also possessed of a childlike naivete. He admittedly doesn't understand some of the things he sees and hears about, has a hard time relating to people who don't have his lifestyle and upbringing. He tries, and he remains kind to those he has no reason to hate, but he's incapable of putting himself in others' shoes. Dom tries to compensate for this with generosity, though sometimes money just isn't what's needed.

He's a light-hearted, chill kind of guy. Sure, he's stressed sometimes over work, but not a lot can ruffle him. His wife is blue, after all. He is intensely devoted to his family, and would do anything Ashley asked of him, as long as it didn't compromise her safety, which is more important to him than anything. He likes to be useful and he likes to take care of people, and spends money liberally on his wife and his various causes, and people less fortunate, rather than hoarding it all away. Can't take it with you, right?

The greatest accomplishment of Edwin Ingram's short life was his corporation. It was his father's at first, with humble beginnings as a manufacturing company that experienced an intense boom with the needs of the Second World War. Edwin inherited a fortune and the company itself when his father died, expanding it to fit the times. Instead of military parts, he branched out into advanced technology. VesperCo became a leading center of research, totally reliant on computers, of course, right down to the vacuuming.

Ed married a beautiful (though rather lazy) woman from one of those families you'd call the American royalty. They had two sons - Jacob first, and then Dominic five years later - who were largely raised by their parents' staff. When they were old enough, they were both prepped to take over the company as partners. Dom didn't take as well to the actual running of the business as Jake did, but they both went to a highly-prestigious New England business school. Jake graduated and began to learn the ropes around VesperCo at their father's side. Dom was still in school when disaster struck.

The whole operation was rendered obsolete overnight. Edwin's life's work, gone in seconds. He put a bullet through his brain when it became clear there was no hope for recovery. His flimsy wife was more concerned with their fortune, as the economy plummeted, and tried to follow in her husband's footsteps several times, mostly by way of pills and alcohol. Her sons and various medical professionals thwarted her attempts repeatedly.

Meanwhile, Jake and Dom schemed. It was clear that this was a different world they were dealing with, but not a completely hopeless one. They just had to figure out what was needed now - technology certainly wasn't it. Dom barely squeezed in his last year of school before they got cracking on their projects. He was the innovator, and Jake was the one that implemented Dom's ideas, thinking more in terms of the present. Slowly, their company - now called GruenCo - built up into something comparable to their father's former business. Dom became the figurehead, being more of a "people person", while Jake kept things running smoothly behind the scenes.
This was how Dom lived for the better part of a decade. He liked to have fun, but business came first, especially while his more serious brother was busy landing himself a wife. Dom was happy for his brother, and adored his sister-in-law like his own blood. The married couple, as married couples do, took it upon themselves to find Dom the same bliss they had found. None of the women Jake and Amy found for him interested him, though. He found it, though, without help from anyone but fate.

Her name was just Ashley, or Ash. He was in his car in traffic one day as she fled the hovercams, and on an impulse, opened the door and offered her a seat in the perfectly safe backseat next to him. She took him up on the offer, and the subsequent offer for lunch. Over a picnic of deli sandwiches in the back of his chauffeured car, they talked. He asked her questions about what things were like for her and the rest of the mutants in the city. He wanted to see where they lived, wanted to know what they thought of humans. And by the end of it all, he wanted to help. He had the resources. He and Jake had never held any harsh feelings toward the mutant population, but they'd been sheltered. Meeting Ash brought a human element to the issue. And he had an investment in it more and more, because as she taught him over the next few weeks, he fell for her. They began dating.

Dom proposed after just a few months of being with Ash. He had no delusions about how hard it would be, as a mutant-human couple. There were things he still didn't understand about her life, but he was willing to try. They couldn't get married through the court system, so they did so in a purely religious ceremony, in front of just a few trusted people. Dom's mother was livid, but she was easily silenced by threat of poverty, and Jake backed him up there. Nowadays Dom continues to be the spokesperson for GruenCo, and he and Ash live in Sector Zero, keeping her identity carefully concealed from the public. Having always had a pet charity or two, Dom's philanthropic efforts quietly turned to mutants, thanks to his wife. He's an outspoken mutant rights advocate, and tries to help out where he can with the operations of Broken City, whether it's through know-how or monetary donation.

birthplace: Martha's Vineyard, MA

family: Edwin Ingram (d. 2009 at age 52) was the head of huge technological corporation VesperCo, prior to 2009. When it all went to hell, he put a pistol to his temple, leaving the ruins of his company to his two twenty-something sons. Dom thinks it was a pretty shitty move, but never got much but pressure from his high-powered, overbearing father.

Lillian Ingram (65) isn't good for much, these days. She rarely leaves her rooms, terrorizing anyone she comes into contact with and fussing over her sons. She is severely prejudiced against mutants, blaming them for the family's previous fall from corporate grace, and has blatantly ignored Dominic since he and Ash got together. She's sworn to silence by her sons concerning Ash's mutation, under threat of being cut off financially and sent to a nursing home.

Jacob Ingram (36) is the business mind behind GruenCo. He and Dom had their differences when they were younger, but have become very close since their father died and they became business partners. Jake and his wife Amy are Ash and Dom's biggest supporters.
